Unesco World Skills Day
The Department of Vocational and Technical Education has been a member of UNESCO-UNEVOC since 2010. It is one of the only four UNESCO-UNEVOC Centers in Ghana. The Department participates in the UNESCO-UNEVOC Network, proudly connecting Ghana’s TVET initiatives to the global community.
Our membership provides us access to international best practices, research, and peer learning platforms, that enables us to integrate emerging skill, digital technologies, sustainable practices and entrepreneurship into our curriculum. Through UNESCO-UNEVOC Network, the Department continue to strengthen its capacity to collaborate, innovate, and engage with local industries, communities, and government agencies, to create work-based learning opportunities, internships, and collaborative projects that empower students with practical skills and hands on experience. These This engagement supports Ghana’s priority of youth employment and inclusive growth, ensuring opportunities for all learners, including women and persons with disabilities.
Again as part of the global UNEVOC community, the Department aligns its programmes with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4 on quality education, SDG 8 on decent work, and SDG 9 on innovation.
Participation in UNESCO – UNEVOC reinforces the Departments commitment to advancing quality TVET Education in Ghana for sustainable national development.











Enterprenuershp Fair
The Department of Vocational and Technical Education successfully organizes an Entrepreneurship Fair aimed at promoting innovation, practical skills development, and entrepreneurial thinking among students. The event provided a platform for students to exhibit vocational and technical products, business concepts, and creative solutions developed through hands-on training. The fair encouraged industry engagement, highlighted the relevance of skills-based education, and reaffirmed the Department’s commitment to producing graduates equipped for employment, self-reliance, and national development.
Importance to the Department:
The fair enhanced the Department’s visibility within the University and beyond by demonstrating the relevance and impact of vocational and technical education. It reinforced the Department’s mandate of bridging theory and practice, strengthened industry linkages, and highlighted its contribution to entrepreneurship, innovation, and workforce development.
Importance to Students:
For students, the Entrepreneurship Fair provided hands-on entrepreneurial experience, allowing them to apply technical skills in real-world business contexts. It promoted creativity, confidence, teamwork, and problem-solving while exposing students to market realities, customer engagement, and self-employment opportunities.
Importance to the University:
At the university level, the fair supported the institution’s strategic goals of innovation, community engagement, and graduate employability. It showcased the University’s role in producing industry-ready and entrepreneurial graduates, enhanced institutional reputation, and contributed to national development through skills training and enterprise creation.





















Fashion Fair
The Department of Vocational and Technical Education organized a Fashion Fair to showcase students’ creativity, technical competence, and innovation in garment design and production. The event enhanced the Department’s visibility by highlighting the practical relevance of vocational and technical training in the fashion industry. For students, the fair provided hands-on experience, promoted entrepreneurial skills, and built confidence through public exhibition of their work. At the university level, the Fashion Fair reinforced the institution’s commitment to creativity, industry engagement, and the development of employable, industry-ready graduates.
